Case Studies - Innovative Access Solutions
Under deck access projects using hanging scaffolding can be very time and therefore cost intensive. The WEB Deck offers a cheaper, faster way to deliver a strong and stable work platform similar to a hanging scaffold but with other advantages:
The WEB Deck has on average 88% less contact points thereby improving the quality of the works for coatings and fire protection. This reduced number of droppers means that you will have a far more open work platform improving on site productivity.
As a system, the WEB Deck is stronger and lighter than a hanging scaffold so it can be used on weak structures and take very heavy loads.
Overview
Access required for concrete and structural repairs to underside of main bridge deck.
WEB Solution
This project was completed 4 weeks ahead of a 26 week programme, mainly in part down to the speed of the deck being erected. Design of WEB Deck system allowed for a 70% reduction in contact points in comparison to access scaffolding for minimal return touch ups for concrete contractor. Zero disruption to working functions of the main bridge deck due to all WEB Deck components being to underside of bridge deck
Conclusion
The WEB Deck provided a very open work area allowing for improved productivity of the concrete repair works. The WEB Deck provided a best fit solution for the bridge under deck works.
Overview
Access required for on-going refurbishment blasting and painting to 5km long jetty pipe work.
WEB Solution
The WEB Deck provided a complete encapsulated working area for blasting and paint works to be carried out despite the weather conditions. System is being used on a rolling work front basis. Design of WEB Deck system allowed for a 75% reduction in contact points for minimal return touch ups for painting contractor. Zero disruption to working functions of jetty thus resulting in no loss of production to the main client. On going refurbishment of jetty now into third year of programme.
Conclusion
The WEB Deck provided a very open work area allowing for improved productivity of the painting works. The WEB Deck provided a best fit solution for the jetty under deck works.
Overview
The steep ground conditions over a fast flowing river presented difficult conditions for scaffolding.
WEB Solution
The WEB Deck was engineered to a 1.5kN per m2 UDL for the level of men and materials required for the project. Installed in 12 man days the WEB deck system was rigged quickly and easily with no delays. This is compared to an estimated 40 man days using scaffold. A new method of punching out the rivets to anchor the chains and to maximise the paint coverage was successfully utilised. The WEB Deck was covered in Envirowrap in order to provide a high quality containment system.
Conclusion
The WEB Deck provided a very open work area allowing for improved productivity of the painting works. The WEB Deck provided a best fit solution for the bridge under deck works.
Overview
Providing high level unobstructed access to remove and replace 10x6m crane rails and removal and replacement of crane.
WEB Solution
The WEB Deck was engineered to a 1.5kN per m2 UDL for the level of men and materials required for the project. Web deck provided a 50% saving in both installation time and cost in comparison to scaffold. There was zero loss of production time in the sub-sea pump room. Workers were able to work safely and at relative ease due to the span on the Web deck and locality to the crane being removed.
Conclusion
The WEB Deck provided a very open work area allowing for improved productivity of the maintenance works. The WEB Deck provided a best fit solution safety and non disruption to the below work area.
Overview
Access required for concrete repairs to under deck of jetty. System also had to address issue regarding dogleg structure.
WEB Solution
The WEB Deck was engineered to a 1.0kN per m2 UDL for the level of men and materials required for the project. Installed in 28 man days the WEB deck system was rigged quickly and easily with no delays. This is compared to an estimated 60 man days using scaffold. This system also incorporated a debris contamination system which prevented debris dropping from the platform. The WEB Deck provided a 78% time saving and 45% cost saving to the project in comparison to scaffold.
Conclusion
The WEB Deck provided a very open work area allowing for improved productivity of the concrete repair works. The WEB Deck provided a best fit solution for the jetty under deck works.
Overview
Containment system on derrick required during fabric maintenance works to derrick. The system enabled works to continue on the drill floor to enable drilling operations to continue as all risk had been eradicated around falling objects and personnel.
WEB Solution
WEB designed and engineered a containment system capable of containing falling debris and personnel.
Conclusion
The WEB containment netting system provided a comprehensive containment system. The containment system allowed other operations adjacent to the drilling derrick to continue uninterrupted. Because of this there was zero production downtime in drilling operations saving significant amounts of time and cost.
Overview
Tension netting system designed and engineered to provide a temporary work platform. The work platform was required to carry out blasting and coating application to the under deck of the drill rig while in transit from drill location offshore to fabrication yard in Brazil for re-fit. 1,000 m2 WEB Net installed with a 6 man team in 2 weeks.
WEB Solution
WEB designed and engineered a tension netting system capable of 10 men carrying out blasting and spraying works.
Conclusion
The WEB Net tension netting system provided a minimum deflection netting work platform. The tension netting system provided a fast, safe and time effective temporary works platform.
Overview
Tension netting platform was required to provide a platform for the installation of a roofing system. The roofing system was part of a wider winterisation programme where the roof had to be able to withstand a large snow and ice load.
WEB Solution
WEB designed and engineered a tensioned netting work platform system capable of providing a work platform for the personnel, materials and tools required for the work tasks. 800m2 of tension netting platform installed in 2 weeks. Installed by a 4 person team.
Conclusion
The WEB Net tensioned netting platform allowed the roofing to be installed without any requirement for the installation scaffolding. The WEB Net tensioned netting system was the preferred choice of work platform as scaffolding would have obstructed the drill floor operations with cost and time consequences.
